Fernando Romero architecture lecture - August 8

The Lloyd Rees Memorial Lecture 2007: Fernando Romero

"Fernando Romero, eminent Mexican architect and founder of LAR (Laboratory of Architecture) presents an illustrated lecture on this internationally recognised practice. Since establishing LAR in 1999, Romero has generated unprecedented spaces such as his award-winning Bridging Tea House Jinhua City, China, demonstrating his commitment to the exploration of new geometries and materials that redefine the contemporary built environment.

Distinguished for their dialogue between context, culture and refined spatial forms, Fernando Romero’s two architectural studios LCM (Laboratory of Mexico City) and LAR have been recognised with numerous national and international awards. These include the International Bauhaus Award 2004, SARA Prize (Society of American Registered Architects) 2005 and The Red Dot Award - best of the best, for Bridging Tea House 2006.

The Lloyd Rees Memorial Lecture is presented by the MCA and Arts NSW, in association with Sydney Design 07, the Royal Institute of Architects and the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
