Shutterbug 07 festival / competition

The Aim of the festival is to give talented photographers a chance to have their work viewed by a wide audience and perhaps by way of that join the professional ranks.

There are some great prizes for the ten finalists including, most importantly, having their series of work shown on the big screen at The Chauvel Cinema, Paddington.

The Festival will only accept entries from non-professional photographers or students of photography. (‘Professional’ is defined as someone making an income from photography, full time or part time)

Photographers are asked to submit a series of photographs with the same theme.

It is free to enter. Entries close 14th March. Red Carpet night: 27th March.

Music and Lyrics and other movies

Music and Lyrics

Recently saw Music and Lyrics with Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. If you're in the mood for a fun, uplifting, cheesy romantic comedy, then go and see this movie. It won't disappoint.

Also saw Confessions of Pain starring Takeshi Kaneshiro and Tony Leung. I liked how one scene was filmed in particular. They had Takeshi's character in the house thinking about how the murder took place. He was filmed in colour superimposed on the actual events of the scene in black and white. It was like he watching the murder scene.

Finally the Pursuit of Happyness. Will Smith was really good in this film. Interesting film.

Peter WIlson architect talk tonight

Peter Wilson talk

"...architecture is a symbiosis of the conceptual and the pragmatic, of the everyday and the exceptional, of the radically different scales of urban planning, buildings, their immediate context, their spatially balanced interiors and the objects that render them not only useful but also comfortable.

Wow! That is architecture according to reknowned architects Bolles+Wilson. Australian born Peter Wilson is giving a talk next week (20 Feb, 6pm) at Sydney University in which he will show some of their recent work."
